CAP/AIDS Tanzania
CAP/AIDS Tanzania is the country office for CAP/AIDS. CAP/AIDS Tanzania currently works with local partners under Letters of Engagement with CAP/AIDS Network in Canada and operates out of a shared office in Arusha with Farm Radio International, another Canadian NGO with official status in Tanzania.
CAP/AIDS has been working in Tanzania since 2004, supporting the work local community-based organizations focused on home-based care, HIV education and awareness, promotion of Voluntary Testing and Counseling. Since 2010, CAP/AIDS has been supporting capacity building of local partners in Tanzania focused on deliver effective, gender-sensitive and responsive support to their communities through developing governance, finance and project management systems based on best practices.
Gizaw Shibru, Regional Program Advisor
Gizaw has been a senior manager of integrated rural development strategies in Africa for more than 20 years. Since 1988, Gizaw has administered a range of HIV&AIDS and other health programs in Uganda, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Malawi. Gizaw spearheaded the establishment and registration of CAP/AIDS-Uganda, coordinated the establishment of the CAP/AIDS African Advisory Board and has now established CAP/AIDS' presence in Tanzania where he lives and works in Arusha.
