ACTING EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR – CAPAIDS
Canada | Obert Madondo
Obert has been involved with CAP AIDS since coming to Canada from
Zimbabwe as a refugee in 2003. He has been involved as a volunteer, volunteer coordinator, Board Director, Administration & Fundraising Coordinator and Program Coordinator.
In May 2008, Obert assumed the position of Acting Executive Director and manages the day-to-day operations of CAP AIDS.
While in Zimbabwe, Obert served as personal assistant and speechwriter to Margaret Dongo,
Zimbabwe 's first independent MP, in the mid-nineties. He was also involved with various political organizers and civic rights activists in
Zimbabwe throughout the 1990s.
As a program officer with Harare (Zimbabwe) Office of the the Konrad Adenauer Foundation of Germany, from 1998 to 2000, Obert headed projects providing political and leadership training in Zimbabwe and
Malawi .
Obert was personally affected by the HIV+AIDS crisis in
Africa and is deeply concerned about and intimately committed to the fight against the pandemic.
Obert is also an avid blogger, published writer and accomplished public speaker.

PROGRAMME DIRECTOR – CAPAIDS
Uganda | Naomi Ayot
Naomi Ayot is the Program Director for CAP AIDS Uganda, CAP AIDS' regional office for
Africa . Born and raised in Northern Uganda, Naomi holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Uganda's
Makerere
University . Naomi manages the day-to-day operations of the CAP AIDS Uganda office, based in
Kampala, Uganda . She monitors projects, prepares reports, assists with bicycle distribution, and helps our partners connect with local resources.
Noami has been trained in HIV+AIDS and Consequential Life Skills and has tought at
Wisdom
College
School for orphans in
Uganda . She has volunteered for various charitable organizations.
Interest in CAP AIDS:
"I'm from
Northern Uganda , a region severely affected by civil war. Women and girls in the region are constantly subjected to violence, such as rape, with many contracting HIV+AIDS as a result. My main interest is to bring hope to all those affected but especially make a difference in the fight against HIV+AIDS in Uganda's rural communities."

ACCOUNTANT / BOOKKEEPER | Zemede Russom
Zemede is Certified General Accountant in
Ontario . Prior to joining CPAR in 1990, he worked in
Saudi Arabia as an accountant for a number of corporations. He first graduated from the
University of
AA in 1975 with a diploma in Commerce, and in 1976 he received his designation as an International Accountant from the Association of International Accountants in London
England . He is a volunteer Director of the Eritrean Orthodox Church in Toronto and a member of the Eritrean-Canadian Association in
Ontario .

FUNDRAISING & SPECIAL EVENT ASSISTANT |
Liberty Looker
Liberty is our 2010 paid summer student intern working as a Fundraising & Special Events Assistant. She is a fourth year student at Toronto's
Ryerson
University , where she is studying social work with a minor in politics.
As Fundraising & Special Events Assistant,
Liberty provides fundraising and event-based support to the CAP AIDS Executive Director. Soon after joining us in June, Liberty helped with the successful planning and coordination of the CAP AIDS’ national 2010 Bike to CAP AIDS Bike-a-thon fundraising campaign. The campaign raised approximately $40 000, which will enable CAP AIDS to continue to make a grassroots contribution in empowering African AIDS orphaned youth with vocational skills and AIDS caregivers with bicycles.
Liberty 's position also supports the development of revenue streams from our signature fundraisers, individuals, the private sector, and institutional sources. It involves researching funding sources, developing proposals, and managing donor relations.
Liberty is passionate about international community work and volunteering. In 2009, she volunteered with a water and sanitation research project (the International Seminar) in
Peru facilitated by the World University Service of Canada (WUSC). She has continued her involvement by sitting on the executive committee on the WUSC Local Committee at
Ryerson
University .
In addition of her role as Fundraising & Special Events Assistant,
Liberty also actively volunteers with CAP AIDS.
