CAP AIDS Uganda is the African regional office of CAP AIDS Network Inc. CAP AIDS Uganda is registered NGO with the Ugandan NGO Board and has four paid staff and a number of volunteers including the members of the Ugandan Advisory Board and the Director of Programs in Africa. CAP/AIDS Uganda currently provides administrational and technical support to CAP AIDS' grassroots, community-based partners in Uganda and oversees the successful implementation of CAP/AIDS projects in the region. The Aboke HIV&AIDS Women's Association was founded by women in the community who were living with HIV and/or caring for the orphaned children of family and neighbours to provide mutual support. AHWA is partner in our Safe Livelihoods for AIDS-Orphans and Caregivers program.
The Diocese Planning and Development Office is focused on the reduction of rural poverty and our focus in on food security and household income, literacy, health, education, civil rights, and equal opportunities. CAP/AIDS is coordinating with the Diocese on plans for maximizing the utility of the Home of Hope Youth & Training Centre CAP/AIDS is building in Boroboro, Lira District. Website.
Hope Bright Vision (HBV) works in Ketchene, the largest slum community in Addis Ababa, with a focus on providing basic needs, livelihood support, home-based care for people living with or affected by HIV. HBV is a partner in our Safe Livelihoods for AIDS-Orphans and Caregivers program.
Kijiji Cha Upendo ('Village of Love') is a registered community-based organization in Kenya, working to complement efforts of families, already providing physical and emotional support, to orphans and other vulnerable children infected and affected by HIV/AIDS through a family- based approach, where children receive nurturing care by loving adults, within family homes. CAP/AIDS is working with the Friends of Kijiji Cha Upendo in Canada to raise funds for their work with caregivers of AIDS orphans in the Kibera slum community in Nairobi. Website.
Operating in Nakawa, one of Kampala's low income areas, the organizers at Needy Support Centre (NSC) came together to help the most vulnerable members of their community to be self-reliant. NSC is partner in our Safe Livelihoods for AIDS-Orphans and Caregivers program. Website.
Founded by five HIV-positive women in Awassa, Ethiopia in 1995, Tila's focus has been to support HIV-positive women through provision of training and engaging them in advocacy efforts in order to empower them to develop self-confidence and capacity to combat the disease. Tila is a partner in our Safe Livelihoods for AIDS-Orphans and Caregivers program. Website.
Women
In Action (WIA) is an NGO initiated in 1993 by 16 Tanzanian women to address
the causes and consequences of Sexually Transmitted Diseases/HIV/AIDS. Its
activities include: home-based care work and training, education programmes,
Income Generating Activities, support for patients, orphans and widows,
starting a nursery school for orphans and the administration of grants to those
whose breadwinner has died from AIDS. CAP/AIDS is working with WIA to develop
new projects in the region with a focus on empowerment of girls and livelihood
support for youth affected by HIV. Webiste.
