About Executive Director

Obert Madondo

Obert has been involved with CAP AIDS since coming to Canada from Zimbabwe as a refugee in 2003. He has been involved as a volunteer, volunteer coordinator, Board Director, Administration & Fundraising Coordinator and Program Coordinator.

 

In May 2008, Obert assumed the position of Acting Executive Director. He manages the day-to-day operations of CAP AIDS.

 

 

While in Zimbabwe, Obert served as personal assistant and speechwriter to Margaret Dongo, Zimbabwe 's first independent MP, in the mid-nineties. He was also involved with various political organizers and civic rights activists in Zimbabwe throughout the 1990s. 

 

As a program officer with the Harare (Zimbabwe) office of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation of Germany, from 1998 to 2000, Obert headed projects providing political and leadership training in Zimbabwe and Malawi.

 

Obert was personally affected by the HIV+AIDS crisis in Africa and is deeply concerned about and intimately committed to the fight against the pandemic.

Obert is also an avid blogger, published writer and accomplished public speaker.
