Bike 2 CAP AIDS 2010 | Saturday, June 19, Sunday, June 20 and Saturday, June 26, 2010
Our BIKE 2 CAP AIDS annual campaign raises awareness about the HIV+AIDS pandemic in
Africa , while also demonstrating to Canadians that they can make a difference. Every year in the summer we hold fun-filled, family-friendly, bike-athon events across
Canada.
In 2010, B2CA has two practical and important goals:
- 170 local African heroes will be supported with a new bicycle and other supports. With a sustainable and affordable means of transportation, these local heroes can provide HIV AIDS prevention, care, and support services to 5 times as many people, and have a much bigger impact;
- 130 AIDS-orphaned African youth will be provided with vocational skills training. With a skilled vocation, orphaned youth can gain employment, earn a better living, rebuild their confidence, and care for their younger siblings.
Together, by achieving these goals we will make a direct, grassroots contribution in the fight to resist, survive and overcome AIDS.
Since 2005, CAP AIDS has:
- provided more than 600 new bikes and other supports to AIDS Service Organizations and outreach workers in five African countries, namely: Uganda, Ethiopia, Malawi, Tanzania and South Africa
- Identified, trained and empowered more than 500 AIDS-orphaned African youth and their siblings.
Our Bike 2 CAP AIDS 2010 bike-a-thon events will be held in Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver and Victoria during the weekend of June 19-20, 2010, as follows:
- Toronto: Saturday, June 19, 2010
