CAP/AIDS Ethiopia
CAP/AIDS Ethiopia is the country office for CAP/AIDS and operates under an MOU with CAP/AIDS Uganda. CAP/AIDS Ethiopia currently operates out of a shared office with CPAR-Ethiopia, a branch of another Canadian NGO with official NGO status in Ethiopia.
CAP/AIDS has been working in Ethiopia since 2006, supporting the work local community-based organizations focused on home-based care, HIV education and awareness, promotion of Voluntary Testing and Counselling. A core focus of CAP/AIDS' work in Ethiopia has been on building the capacity of local partners to deliver effective, gender-sensitive and responsive support to their communities through developing governance, finance and project management systems based on best practices. Since 2009, CAP/AIDS has also been implementing a CIDA VSF-funded program in Uganda focused on the development of Safe Livelihoods for older AIDS-orphans and caregivers.
Dirshaye Teshome, Project Officer
Dirshaye Teshome is the program Coordinator at CAPAIDS, Ethiopia country office. Dirshaye holds a bachelor of art degree from Gondar University in Psychology and is completing his Master of Arts degree at Addis Ababa University. Dirshaye mange the overall CAP AIDS operation based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; with the responsibility for monitoring projects, prepare reports, write concept notes and project proposals and also act as a country representative. Prior to joining CAP AIDS, Dirshaye gained experience In the NGO sector specializing in project design, partnership and networking. While working as a senior consultant at Momentum Consultancy PLC, Dirshaye trained in project cycle management, leadership, organizational capacity building and project monitoring and evaluation. Dirshaye also maintain active membership in the "Temiret le hiwot" HIV and AIDS network association.
