NORTHERN UGANDA REHABILITATION PROGRAMME | Uganda


Implemented by CAP AIDS Uganda and funded by the European Union (EU), the project supported widows, war returnees and AIDS-affected youths with employment/self-employment skills, start-up capital for income-generating projects, and human rights education.

Safe Livelihoods for the Youth of AIDS-Orphaned Families | Ethiopia and Uganda


In March 2006, the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) approved a 2-year contribution of $120,000 toward the $180,000 budget of the Safe Livelihoods project.

Youth United to Cap AIDS | Malawi   


In

June 2006, CAP AIDS received a contribution of $100,000 from the HIV/AIDS Small Grants Fund, operated jointly by the Canadian Society for International Health and the Interagency Coalition for AIDS and Development and financed by CIDA. The funding supported the Youth United to Cap AIDS, a 2-year project implemented in Malawi.

 

CAP AIDS PARTNERS IN AFRICA

HAPSCO | Ethiopia

Hiwot HIV/AIDS Prevention, Care and Support Organization (HAPSCO) works in the large slums on the outskirts of Addis Abeba. CAP AIDS is helping HAPSCO to educate young leaders and provide them with the skills needed to educate themselves and their peers about HIV prevention, to keep their generation safer from AIDS.

Mekdim | Ethiopia


Mekdim AIDS Orphans and HIV Positive Persons National Association (Mekdim) works with people living with HIV/AIDS, orphans and others affected by HIV/AIDS in the Ethiopian city of Addis Abeba . CAP AIDS supports Mekdim in their efforts to work directly with families, people and communities affected by HIV/AIDS.

CAYO | Malawi


Counselling of Adolescent and Youth Organization (CAYO) is a youth-founded and youth-lead Malawian NGO working to empower young people and reduce the vulnerable to social, economic and health related challenges. A key focus area for CAYO is HIV/AIDS impact mitigation. CAP AIDS support enabled CAYO to provide leadership training to out-of-school youth so that they can organize and lead HIV prevention and advocacy campaigns. 

Zion Fire Women's Trust | Uganda


The Zion Fire Women's Trust works to reduce the risk of HIV among young people by building stronger relationships of trust and respect among youth themselves and between youth and the elderly leaders in their community. With CAP AIDS' support, Zion fire has been able to provide regular car to orphans, conduct HIV prevention and advocacy education and establish income generating activities.

Lira Neighbourhood Women's Group | Uganda


The Lira Neighbourhood Women's Group was founded by a group of elderly women who have turned to themselves to provide HIV education and healthcare to members of their community. CAP AIDS support has enabled the Lira Neighbourhood Women's group to encourage people to get tested for HIV, to increase the level of access to treatment drugs, to increase the level of skills and resources for income generating activities and to provide home based care to people living with AIDS.

Agwata Traditional Birth Attendant (TBA) Association | Uganda


Agwata Traditional Birth Attendant (TBA) Association is a cooperative of midwives that came together in the Lira District of northern Uganda . CAP AIDS funding was used to purchase hospital beds and to provide the midwives with globes and other surgical equipment to help reduce the spread of HIV during delivery.

DYERE - TEK (People Living With AIDS) | Uganda


DYERE-TEK provides support to people living with HIV/AIDS and to the orphans and other vulnerable children who have been affected by the disease. CAP AIDS support was used to repair the huts of people who are bed-ridden with AIDS.

CPAR (Canadian Physicians for Aid and Relief) | Malawi


CPAR Malawi works to train and support community-based HIV/AIDS educators and caregivers so that they can promote prevention and provide care and support to people living with HIV/AIDS. CAP AIDS donated 40 bicycles to CPAR Malawi though the Bike to CAP AIDS Campaign.

MKUKI | Tanzania


Mradi wa Kudhibiti Ukimwi Kilimanjaro (MKUKI) provides prevention education as well as a wide range of support services to those affected by the pandemic. CAP AIDS provided funding to MKUKI through CSRAI (Canadian Support of Rural African Initiatives) to train additional MKUKI educators.
